Radwan Chowdhury is a first-generation American, global executive, technology leader, entrepreneur, board chair, community advocate and public service leader with more than 25 years of experience spanning the private, nonprofit, civic and public sectors.
His career has been defined by a commitment to responsible leadership, innovation, accountability and opportunity. From leading technology-driven businesses to managing complex financial operations, and from serving on nonprofit and civic boards to engaging directly with communities, Radwan has built his leadership around a simple principle: use experience to serve people and strengthen the institutions entrusted with their future.
Throughout his corporate career, Radwan has held senior leadership roles with AA Global Solutions, Freddie Mac, Citigroup, PHH Corporation and Bank of America. His experience includes managing multi-billion-dollar financial portfolios and credit commitments, including oversight of a $25.7 billion asset-based portfolio.
That experience shapes his approach to public leadership: government must manage public resources with the same discipline, transparency, accountability and long-term perspective expected of any institution entrusted with people's money.
He has served as Founding Chair of the UDiON Foundation, Chair of the East County Citizens Advisory Board, Chair of the Mayor's Asian American Advisory Board, Executive Board member of GlobalJax, and a member of the Public Service Grant Council.
A board is not simply a place to hold a title. It is a place to exercise stewardship.
As Chair of the East County Citizens Advisory Board, he has worked as a bridge between residents and government on infrastructure, transportation, land use, zoning, development and community planning. He has also participated in the implementation of the Fairland and Briggs Chaney Master Plan.
His civic leadership extends beyond Maryland, including roles as campaign strategist, campaign manager, chief advisor, community organizer, and two-term Treasurer of the Duval County Democratic Party.
With a background in computer science and professional expertise in digital transformation, project and program management, agile methodologies, risk management and technology systems, he believes government should use technology to make services more accessible, efficient, transparent and responsive.
Through the UDiON Foundation and other initiatives, his work has focused on educational opportunity, poverty alleviation, youth development and community empowerment. He has authored twelve textbooks, a Bengali poetry book, more than 25 articles, and hundreds of blogs addressing education, poverty, social justice, leadership and community development.
He is fluent in English, Bangla, Hindi and Urdu. His service has been recognised through numerous honors, including a Lifetime Service Award associated with President Barack Obama, Educator of the Year recognition, Diversity and Inclusion Leadership Awards, Community Leadership Awards, recognition among Northeast Florida's Most Influential Asian Americans, and TEDx Jacksonville Speaker of the Year.
Yet Radwan remains grounded in the belief that recognition is secondary to service.
And leadership is ultimately measured by what we make possible for others.
“Leadership is the privilege of creating opportunities for others to rise, grow, and fly farther than they ever imagined.”
Twenty-five years of board rooms, budgets and accountability.
